Professor Ivan Keogh is Head of Discipline of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, National University of Ireland Galway and Galway University Hospitals. Speciality training was under the auspices of The Royal College of Surgeons & The Irish Higher Surgical Training Programme. In 2000 – 2002 he undertook a research fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary & The Department of Genetics, Harvard University, Boston, U.S.A.
A Doctorate in Medicine NUIG was awarded in 2006 for this research into the molecular genetics of hearing loss and craniofacial abnormalities.
In 2006 – 2007 Professor Keogh undertook Clinical Fellowships in Otology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at The Portmann Institute, Bordeaux, France and University Hospital Insespital, Bern, Switzerland.
Research interests include, Molecular Genetics of Hearing Loss, Safe Surgery – Human Factors, Novel Optical Imaging Techniques and Nano-Biophotonics.
